Narrative of the Life: The concept of identity is central to the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass. To what extent is Mr. Douglass successful in depicting the abolitionist cause as a struggle to restore a sense of identity or humanity to the slaves? Use numerous references to the text to explain how Mr. Douglass believed that institution of slavery dehumanized slaves and destroyed their identities, and the steps by which he sought to restore his identity and humanity.
